There are five common triggers for eating, in this post I shall discuss them, the reasons why they might appear, and how to devise strategies to combat these triggers if they are prevalent in a patient (or indeed yourself). It is always useful to get a patient to recognise why it is they are eating/feeling ‘hungry’ whether it be socialising, emotional, boredom, or due to actual tummy rumblings.
The first reason we may think of for eating is due to hunger. It is important however that a patient can recognise and differentiate this feeling from other triggers to eating. Ways to recognise you are hungry are:

Would you like your recipe featured in my cook book?
As many of you know, I am putting together a cook book, which will be released by the summer’s end! The book features mostly vegan recipes. It promotes organic, non-gmo foods, and features many recipes that are gluten-free, paleo friendly, Latin-inspired, hi-raw, and super healthy!
The book is divided into 5 parts – breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, and dessert. I am looking for chefs and/or food enthusiasts that would like their recipes featured in my book. I will feature 1 recipe per category. That means, I will feature 5 different chefs/cooks/foodies (however you identify).
To enter the contest and have your recipe featured, please submit the following to ORGANICMELINDA@GMAIL.COM.
1. Category of Recipe (i.e. Breakfast, lunch, etc)
2. Name your Recipe
3. Provide a detailed list of ingredients and portions in your recipe.
4. Provide a step by step detailed explanation of how to make your recipe.
5. Provide a high-resolution image of your meal prepared.
6. Provide a high-resolution picture of yourself, a short 3-5 sentence bio, and your contact information or website to be featured in my cookbook.

My daughter used to love fruits and veggies when she was under a year old, but now that she is 15 months old, it gets exceedingly harder to give her a balanced diet. Luckily, she is really into beans, lately, which provide many of the nutrients she needs. Yesterday, she had black-eyed peas for the first time, and liked them. As a momma, I do what works. She’s been really into hummus and black bean burgers, so I made a black-eyed pea puree with veggies and threw a side of kale on the plate, as it is my favorite leafy green. It’s a large plate, because I, also, noticed that she will eat food from my plate, but not from her own plate. Kids are fickle, sometimes, and my goal is just to get her to eat healthy food even if it means letting her put her little, chubby hands all over my food.
